My name is Kate and first and foremost, I am a mum of 4 marvellous beings, who are all, almost certainly, neuro-spicy! Each comes with their own challenges (mostly sensory or emotional), but more importantly than that, they have own unique and amazing characteristics. This all makes more sense when we learn that I have had an ADHD diagnosis in my 40's. This explains a LOT from my earlier years (sorry mum). My passion for children's mental health and emotional wellbeing grew from wanting to understand my children, so I can empower them to be unapologetically them, in a perfectly imperfect way.
My other driving force is my job. I am a Key Stage 2 Teaching Assistant and everyday I see children struggling to deal with their emotions, as well as those who live in an almost constant state of overwhelm and anxiety. This effects so much of their life and how they experience school, friendships and home. I knew I wanted to create something that could have fun mindfulness activities in it but could also support them with their mental and emotional challenges they face and . To support the creation of the journals, I have taken myself on a journey of learning by completing several courses including Level 2 Counselling Skills, Learning Disabilities Certificate, Mindfulness for Children Certificate, Mental Health First Aid and Drawing and Talking. I am currently undertaking a Certificate in Somatic Trauma- Informed Leadership and Coaching. I will continue to educate myself and I hope to share these learnings by creating more resources for young people who need to get to know themselves and fall in love with what they find.
